TORONTO -- In a truly incredible turn of events, the Oakland A's led 5-3 going into the bottom of the 11th only watch Billy Koch blow the save and then allow the game-winning run to score in the 12th.
Staked with a 2-run lead, Koch allowed a huge, pinch-hit, bases-clearing double that tied the game. He then gave up a walk to Shannon Stewart to start the 12th and a single to Berg, putting runners on the corners. Mike Venafro was summoned from the pen and incredibly enough, he struckout Jose Cruz, Jr. and popped out Vernon Wells. But then, with the bases loaded (Delgado had been intentionally walked), Venafro lost all control and walked in the winning run.
Miguel Tejada finished 0-for-5, pushing his season average to .226.
"Speechless," said Maty McNeil.
The A's fuckin' blew it.
