MULDER PROVES HE'S BEST A.L. PITCHER

OAKLAND -- Mark Mulder built on an already incredible start to the season with yet another complete game shutout against the Blue Jays today.  Mulder has pitched a complete game shutout in 4 of his 5 starts this season.  He blanked the Blue Jays 1-0 today, allowing just two hits.  Mulder is now 5-0 in 5 starts and his ERA now stands at a league best 0.64.  Mulder owns a 0.806 WHIP.

"He's lights-out right now," Blue Jays first baseman Carlos Delgado said after the game.  "Best stuff I've seen all year."

Mulder owns a 27-inning scoreless innings streak, dating back to his pre-DL days.  He has yet to allow a home run this season.

The Athletics got their only run in the 4th on an RBI single by Terrance Long.  With the win, Oakland took 2 of 3 from Toronto.  They will travel to Boston after this series for a big 3-game series at Old Back Bay.

Around the League:

• The Arizona Diamondacks put together a 7-run 9th to come back from a 3-1 hole against the Phillies tonight.  Tony Womack's grand slam was the catalyst.

Darin Erstad is hitting .515 over his last 7 games.  He's hitting .413 off lefties in 46 at-bats.

The Minnesota Twins own the AL best team average at .293 and rank second in team ERA at 3.51.  They still trail Chicago by 3 games in the AL Central.

• After dropping a game to Oakland, Boston has started a new, 2-game winning streak.  They're a perfect 5-0 in extra frames.
