MULDER TOSSES SHUTOUT

OAKLAND -- Recently re-activated Mark Mulder hit the ground running in his 1st start back from the DL, throwing a complete game shutout - his 3rd in his 4 starts - in Oakland's 3-0 win over the Red Sox.  Oakland's victory snaps the Red Sox 11-game winning streak.

Miguel Tejada smacked his 1st home run since 4/18 in the effort.  Jason Giambi slugged his 7th home run of the season.  Maty McNeil shook up the lineup a bit for this game, dropping Tejada to 5th in the order.

Mulder's ERA drops to 0.81 and he picked up his 4th win in four starts.  The rubbergame begins tomorrow: Derek Lowe (4-1, 2.27) vs. Cory Lidle (2-0, 3.93).

Around the League:

• Paul Konerko has notched 4 hits in each of his last two games.  He is 25-for-31 (.806) with 3 home runs and 11 RBI's over his last 8 games.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have finally won.  After losing 9 straight, they beat the Yankees. Their record is still an abysmal 7-25.

Curt Schilling won his 7th start of the season, improving to 7-0.  Schilling pitched a complete game 4-hitter against the Pirates.

• Ryan Klesko has had some key at-bats of late for the Padres.  He's .419 with 4 home runs and 11 RBI's over the past 10 days.  The Padres still continue to struggle at 8-25.

Milwaukee's Eric Young leads the majors in steals at 21.  He's only been caught one time.
