A'S DROP HEARTBREAKER, SERIES

ARLINGTON, T.X. -- Despite a valiant effort that saw the Athletics score 6 runs in the final three innings, the boys from Oaktown lost a heart-breaker, 8-7.  David Justice, the potential tying run was pegged out a home with 2 outs in the 9th.  Texas catcher Ivan Rodriguez blocked the plate and held onto the ball, ensuring victory.

The A's were down 6-1 by the third inning and rallied to come all the way back by the eighth.  But Chad Bradford (0-1, 7.71) was roughed up again.  He allowed a big 2-run shot to Lamb in the eighth.  Oakland starter Eric Hiljus was shellacked in his 4 inning pitched.  Ramon Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a home run.

"Toughest loss yet," said Maty McNeil.  "But we had fight until the end."
