MULDER SHUTOUTS RANGERS

OAKLAND -- Mark Mulder simply dominated Texas batters tonight, pitching the A's first shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory.  Mulder threw 118 pitches, allowed a mere 3 hits, and walked a single batter.  Oakland finished with 8 hits in the victory, including Frank Menechino's towering home run to right center. Justice and Tejada finished with multi-hit games. 

The A's led off the scoring in the 1st with a Giambi HBP followed by a wild-pitch.  Pena plated the run on a single.  The next run came in the 4th as Menechino homered.   The A's scored two insurance runs in the 7th as Rangers' pitcher Colby Lewis struggled to find the zone.

A-Rod finished 0-3, putting his season average now at .182.  The A's are hitting .297 as a team thus far this season and own a 1.33 ERA.
