ERSTAD HITS FOR CYCLE

>>BREAKING NEWS: In Pittsburgh, the Padres defeated the Pirates after 22 innings of play.  Ray Lankford's two-run single provided the key offensive moment in the top of the 22nd.  It ranks as the longest game of the season.

ANAHEIM -- Darin Erstad hit for the cycle and had 5 RBI and Scott Schoeneweis tossed a complete game as the Anaheim Angels beat the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 9 to 2.

Erstad punished Toronto with his bat.  He cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, tripled plating two runs in the 4th inning and lashed a single plating a run in the 6th inning.  Anaheim managed 12 hits in their victory.

The victory was credited to Schoeneweis(3-1) who went the distance, allowing 2 runs. Brandon Lyon(1-3) was the loser.  He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.

'I felt great out there today' Erstad said.  'I was seeing the ball perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing.'
